There are live performances, and then there are experiences that feel like stepping into another world. Eivør’s concert at Somerville Theatre was undeniably the latter. The Faroese singer-songwriter, known for her hauntingly beautiful vocals and Nordic folk influences, transformed the historic venue into a portal of raw emotion, mysticism, and sonic power.
A Voice That Echoes Through Time
From the moment Eivør took the stage, an almost reverent hush fell over the crowd. Dressed in her signature dark, ethereal aesthetic, she commanded attention without needing to say a word. Then, with the first note, the air shifted—her voice, both delicate and thunderous, resonated through the theater like a force of nature.She began the night by playing the first four songs off her new album, Enn. So far, my favorite off this album is Jaròartrá.

Eivør’s ability to blend traditional Faroese folk with electronic and cinematic elements is what sets her apart. Tracks like “Trøllabundin” carried an ancient, spellbinding energy, her percussive throat singing echoing through the theater as if summoning spirits from the fjords. Meanwhile, “True Love” showcased her softer, more intimate side, each lyric dripping with vulnerability.
A Show That Lingers Like a Dream
As the night came to a close, Eivør left the audience in a state of awe. Some concerts end when the last note fades, but this one lingered in the bones—like an echo from a dream you don’t want to wake up from.
You may know Eivør from the hit TV series, The Last Kingdom. She is responsible for the deep, bellowing music of the Vikings and even made a cameo in season 5.
