New Found Glory’s Unforgettable Night at MGM Music Hall at Fenway – 8/18/23
For fans of New Found Glory, their show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway on August 18, 2023, was a night to remember. From a killer setlist to unforgettable fan moments, the band brought their signature high-energy performance to one of Boston’s most iconic venues. Adding a personal touch to this magical evening, I wore a custom shirt I designed through Cosmic Outlaw—and guess what? The band absolutely loved it!
If you’re searching for New Found Glory Boston concert reviews, or want an insider’s perspective on the night, here’s a full recap of the experience—on stage, backstage, and beyond.
A Personal Connection: My Cosmic Outlaw Shirt
One of the highlights of the night happened even before the band hit the stage. I wore a custom Cosmic Outlaw shirt I designed that read “Play the Old Stuff.”It was a nod to every fan’s dream of hearing their favorite hits live. When I got the chance to hang out backstage, NFG immediately noticed the shirt, forging a memorable connection. For me, it was a surreal moment to see my design resonate with a band that’s meant so much to me. I told them the next shirt will say, “Play 2’s & 3’s” (inside joke).
The Show: A Pop-Punk Celebration
New Found Glory took the stage to thunderous applause, kicking off the night with “All Downhill From Here.” The energy in the room was palpable, with fans singing along to every word. The setlist was a perfect balance of new tracks from their acoustic album Make the Most of It and the beloved anthems that defined the pop-punk genre.
Highlights of the Setlist:
• “My Friends Over You”: A quintessential anthem that turned the room into a massive singalong.
• “Hit or Miss”: A nostalgic favorite that transported us all back to the early 2000s.
• “Dream Born Again”: Delivered with emotional depth, this acoustic track was one of the night’s standout moments.
• “Understatement”: High-energy and electric, it was a reminder of why New Found Glory remains a live favorite. This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE NFG songs.
The band’s chemistry on stage was undeniable. Between songs, they shared stories, joked with the audience, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to their fans. Especially for Chad, who has been battling cancer for sometime. He took long breaks to rest during the show. They even set up a large chair which resembled a throne, for him to chill in. I actually met Chad and his family a month before, in the pit, in Nashville at Blink-182. That’s a story for another day.
Getting to hang backstage with New Found Glory was iconic and I’ll never forget it. The guys were incredibly genuine and down-to-earth, taking time to chat about the tour, their creative process, and their love for Boston.
For over 20 years, New Found Glory has been a cornerstone of pop-punk music. Their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots keeps their fanbase growing. Whether they’re delivering high-energy classics or heartfelt acoustic tracks, their music resonates deeply across generations. I love em so much!
